- JEHOVAH-JIREH means, “I AM the Lord your provider”
9 When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built the altar there and laid the
wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then Abraham
reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. 11 But the angel of the LORD called to him
from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 12 He said, “Do not lay your
hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld
your son, your only son, from me.” 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind
him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up
as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called the name of that place, “The LORD will
provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided.” 15 And the angel of
the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, “By myself I have sworn, declares
the LORD, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 I will surely
bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the
seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the
nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.” Genesis 22:9-18
What Does This Mean to Us?
God sees our needs before we even ask for it. He will provide for those who obey and endure.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor
about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly
Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add
a single hour to his span of life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the
field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not
arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and
tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore
do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For
the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But
seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the
day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:25-34
- JEHOVA-ROPHE means “ I AM the Lord your healer”
22 Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They
went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not
drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah. 24 And the people
grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 And he cried to the LORD, and the LORD
showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made
for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, 26 saying, “If you will diligently listen to the
voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments
and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the
LORD, your healer.” Exodus 15:22–26
