Life After Death Week 2

Life After Death Week 2

QUESTION???  Is there going to be a Final Judgement Day?

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment…” Hebrews 9:27

Not everyone will experience physical death.

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

But…EVERYONE will face the Final Judgement.

4 Facts About Judgement Day

Question: Where will the Final Judgement take place?

Answer: The Angelic Heaven (Where Jesus and God are RIGHT NOW!)

“At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne.” Revelation 4:2

“The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.”  Revelation 3:21

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.” Matthew 25:31

Question: Who’s going to be the Judge on Judgement Day?

Answer: God the Father and Jesus the Son

“Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God…”  Romans 14:10

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” 2 Corinthians 5:10

“For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.”  John 5:22

Question:  Who are the people that are going to be judged on Judgement Day?

Answer:  Every Human Being

NOTE:  ALL Judgement will take place on ONE DAY.

“By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17

“But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.”  2 Timothy 1:12

“On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’”  Matthew 7:22

“But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.” Romans 2:5

“But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.” 2 Peter 3:7

“And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day.” Jude 6

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25

“But, what about John 5:24, Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

That word for “judgement” is better translated “condemned”.  Therefore, the verse should read, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life.  He does not come in to condemnation, but has passed from death to life.”

Question: What will be Judged on Judgement Day?

Answer: All our works…Good and Evil.

“For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jerimiah 17:10

“Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.” 2 Corinthians 5:10

Question: “I thought my sins won’t be brought up according to Hebrews 8:12?”

“For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”

Truth:  God will not hold your sin’s against you on Judgement Day, but God is Omnificent (All-Knowing) and He knows every sin you have committed even before you were born and remembers them.  He just won’t hold it against those who have believed in Jesus as Lord.

3 Purposes of The Judgement Day

  1.  To Determine the Rewards and Punishments for all people.

“And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. 48 But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.” Luke 12:47-48

Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love greetings in the marketplaces and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, 47 who devour widows’ houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.” Luke 20:46-47

Other Examples: Luke 19, 1 Corinthians 3

  • A Vindication of God’s Justice .

“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

“What then shall I do when God rises up? When he makes inquiry, what shall I answer him?”

Job 31:14

  •  To Glorify God’s Grace to Those Who Do Not Deserve It.

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:11-15

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  Romans 8:1
