When God shows up

“I cry out to you, O God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me”Job 30:20

 

“Oh, that I had someone to hear me!  I sign now my defense —let the Almighty answer me; let my accuser put his indictment in writing”Job 31:35

 

“Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm. He said: “Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge?  Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.”  Job 38:1-3

 

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.  Who marked off its dimensions?  Surely you know!”  Job 38:4-5

 

“Tell me if you know so much!”  “Who stretched a measuring line across it?  On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone?” Job 38:4-5 (TLB)

 

“Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place?Job 38:12

 

“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep”  Job 38:16

 

“Have the gates of death been shown to you?” Job 38:17

 

“What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?” Job 38:24

 

Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?” Job 38:35

    

“Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?  Do you count the months till they bear?  Do you know the time they give birth?”  Job 39:1-2

 

“Can you design a wild ox with amazing strength and yet it is capable of being tamed and serving man? Job 39:9

 

Or did you ever think about the strength of ostrich wings or the splendor of a stork?  I designed those creatures Job 39:13

 

“Do you give the horse his strength or clothe his neck with a flowing mane?” Job 39:19

 

“Does the eagle soar at your command and build his nest on high?” Job 39:27

 

“He dwells on a cliff and stays there at night; a rocky crag is his stronghold.  From there he seeks out his food; his eyes detect it  from afar” Job 39:28-29

 

“The LORD said to Job:  “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!” Job 40:1-2 

 

“Then Job answered the LORD: “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you?  I put my hand over my mouth.  I spoke once, but I have no answer—twice, but I will say no more.” Job 40:3-5

 

“Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.  Would you discredit my justice?  Would you condemn me to justify yourself?  Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.  Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low, look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand. Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave.  Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you”  Job 40:7-14

 

LESSONS WE CAN LEARN WHEN GOD SPOKE TO JOB

 

  1. GOD IS IN __CONTROL_________________ OF ALL CREATION—LEARN TO DEVELOP A ____SERVANTS________________________ HEART.

    

  1. GOD WILL PROVIDE __ANSWERS_______________ IN HIS TIME—BE WILLING TO __WAIT___________. (Job 39:9)

 

  • Because we’re not capable of ___UNDERSTANDING___________________the answer.

    

  • Because it would ruin the __TEST____________ if we knew the answer in advance.

 

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Cor. 12:8–9

 

 “Then Job replied to the LORD: ‘I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.  You asked, “Who is this that obscures my counsel without knowledge?”  Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.  You said, “Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.” My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.’”  Job 42:1-5

 

“Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes” Job 42:6    

 

“After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before.  All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house.  They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the Lord had brought upon him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first.  He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys” “And he also had seven sons and three daughters.”    Job 42:10-13

“Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.  After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.  And so he died, old and full of years.”  Job 42:15-17

 

  1. GOD WILL MAKE ALL THINGS ___RIGHT_______________ IN THE END—KEEP __TRUSTING_______________HIM.

 

 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  Hebrews 11:6

 

“Weeping may remain for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

 

 “In this[your hope in heaven] you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” 1 Peter 1:6-7

 

 “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth”Job 19:25
